Holiday Market coming to CG

If you’re not keen on slogging through malls or buying gifts sight unseen through the Internet, the Employee Activities Committee has an appealing alternative for you. The EAC’s 2013 Holiday Market (formerly known as the Crafts Fair) will take place on Friday, November 8, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. in the Center Green auditorium.

The market will offer a wide range of unique items, many of them created by staff members. Among the options on hand:

  • jewelry made from tagua (vegetable ivory) from Ecuador
  • homemade soaps and sugar scrubs
  • polymer-clay Christmas ornaments
  • hand-knit scarves, hats, and mittens
  • one-of-a-kind handbags from designer fabrics
  • candles and greetings cards
  • decorated lamps

You’ll also be able to pick up tasty edibles, including salsa, tamales, and baked goods. For the special canine(s) in your life, you’ll find doggy biscuits and birthday cakes.

In addition to our own staff selling their wares, Scholastic Books is holding a book fair. All proceeds from the book fair will go to Lyons Elementary School, where students, faculty, and parents were hit hard by recent flooding. If you can't make it to the market, you can order books online between November 3 and 23 and the EAC will deliver them to you during the first week of December.

Free gift wrapping is available, and patrons will be able to enjoy a warm glass of mulled punch as they shop.

Preview some of this year’s offerings at the EAC’s Holiday Market website.
