An update on development of land-ice/climate coupling, and initial land ice science within CESM

This talk will provide an update on the development of full coupling between the community ice sheet model CISM, and CESM.  Newly-developed coupling includes routing of solid ice discharge ('icebergs') to the ocean, communication of ice sheet topography changes to the atmosphere, implementation of dynamic land units in CLM, and a technique for generating consistent initial ice sheet conditions for coupled model simulations.  It will also review ongoing ice-sheet science being carried out in the coupled CESM framework, and discuss ideas for potential near-term science with the full coupled ice-sheet/climate model.
