The Network Engineering Technology Section (NETS) housed in the Computational and Information Systems Lab (CISL) is responsible for all networking and Internet services for NCAR, UCP, and UCAR. This includes telephones, wireless and wired office networking, all networking to the outside world, and all computer room and colocation facility networking. NETS works with the UCAR Cybersecurity Program Office to help UCAR/NCAR meet FISMA standards/requirements as well as day to day security of the network. NETS is here to enable and support the missions of our organizations.

This NETS survey is an effort to see where NETS can improve its service to the organization. We appreciate you taking time to complete the survey and provide your input.  - Marla Meehl, Manager of NETS

The UCAR umbrella website domain will be changing from www2.ucar.edu to www.ucar.edu. To prevent future domain updates from impacting orgnav, SWEG has migrated the code to the new domain orgnav.ucar.edu.

Because of this change, sites that reference orgnav will need to update their script tags to reference the javascript at orgnav.ucar.edu/orgnav.js and orgnav.ucar.edu for the noscript.

While there is no date currently scheduled for the removal of orgnav on www2.ucar.edu, we recommend all developers/engineers update their sites as soon as possible. The www2.ucar.edu domain will be removed later this year, once the new umbrella sites are released. We will also notify developers and engineers when an end-of-life date is available.

CISL would like to make NCAR staff aware that the application for the CISL Visitor Program (CVP) is now open https://www2.cisl.ucar.edu/cisl-visitor-program. The program can provide funding, as well as financially leverage other visitor programs at NCAR, for joint collaborative visitors between CISL and other NCAR labs. The visitor must have a CISL staff host. Financial support is limited to travel costs and local living expenses. Visits are from 2 weeks to 3 months, with longer time periods, such as sabbaticals, considered on a case-by-case basis.

The application window is between now and March 3, 2017 for visits occurring between summer 2018 and spring 2019.

The ECSA is pleased to announce that we are soliciting applications for VISITOR funds for FY2018. ECSA members who would like to bring a visitor to NCAR for a collaborative visit may apply for these limited funds.

These visits have the goals of enhancing partnerships with other public and private institutions, and furthering the science done by early career scientists here at NCAR. These funds are available to all ECSA members. The length of the visit should be appropriate for the purpose, and awards will be limited to $5000. If funding is awarded, you will be required to write a 1-page summary about the visit and what was achieved as a result. Also, depending on the length/purpose of the visit, the ECSA may request your visitor give a seminar.

Please visit the ECSA visitor funds web page for more information, and a link to the online application.
