NCAR Community Art Program proudly presents two artists:
Richard Warner enjoys images that surprise—be it an unusual perspective, a touch of humor or a subject with shock value.
5POINTS: The stunning street art, captured in this series of photographs, which adorned an entire city block in Queens, New York, no longer exists. Artists from around the world covered the warehouse, scheduled for demolition, with their work, beginning in 2002. During the night of November 19, 2013, the images were blanketed with whitewash. The building developer argued that watching the art being destroyed by the wrecking ball would be “torture”. These pictures were taken less than two months before the art was erased.
Warner is mounting two series of images in NCAR Mesa Lab Gallery I, “5POINTS” and the second “REFLECTIONS”. Warner's work will be on display June 2, 2014 to August 1, 2014.
Eggshell Mosaics by Dorette Carlson
Dorette Carlson sees art as a gift of communication. To her, the artist puts their soul on display, confirming the innate need for connection and the desire to be recognized as part of the greater human experience. Her approach to the ancient art of mosaics reflects the idea that all of creation is a mosaic; it’s all bits and pieces that come together to form the larger whole. Her mosaic art reflects the universal principle that nothing really stands alone; that everything is made of an abundance of interconnected elemental bits. Carlson's work will be on exhibit in Gallery II of the NCAR Mesa Lab June 2, 2014 to August 1, 2014.
Come and be inspired by their beautiful artwork!
