During October, RTD is running limited bus service between Nederland and downtown Boulder, with the morning bus leaving Nederland Park 'n Ride at 7:10 a.m. and the afternoon bus departing from the Boulder Transit Center at 5:40 p.m. to return to Nederland. Here are recommendations for staff who need to get from the bus to UCAR/NCAR campuses. You may use your EcoPass for all bus connections.
To/From Mesa Lab: The Skip runs along Broadway every 7-8 minutes in the mornings and evenings. Staff can transfer to the UCAR shuttle at Table Mesa/Broadway every 15 minutes during peak hours.
Morning connections to Foothills: The Nederland bus arrives in downtown Boulder at about 7:41 a.m., so the 208 and the 205 buses offer the best connections. The 208 departs at 7:52 and arrives at Center Green/Valmont at 8:10, then it's a short walk to CG or FL. Staff can also catch the 205 at 7:52 or 8:07, connecting with the shuttle at 28th/Canyon. The shuttle departs at 8:20, arriving at Foothills at 8:30.
Afternoon connections from Foothills: The most straightforward option is to take the 5:00 p.m. shuttle to 28th/Canyon and transfer to the 205 bus at 5:14. The 205 arrives downtown at 5:19, in plenty of time for the departure of the bus to Nederland at 5:40.
Another afternoon option is catching the 5:23 p.m. Bolt bus at 28th/Walnut. It arrives downtown at 5:31, in time for the 5:40 Ned bus.
For those who prefer bike riding to work, there are Boulder B-Cycle stations in the downtown area and 28th/Canyon, as well as the CG and FL campuses.
Some staff have asked about special shuttle service to downtown Boulder. During peak crosstown hours, this would add 10-12 minutes per trip to make a stop at the downtown station. Unfortunately, this would require the addition of another van and driver in the mornings and evenings each day. Current budget constraints do not afford this option.
