Workplace Harassment Awareness Seminar NOTE: class cancelled - will be offered on September 5, 2013 at MLJune 4, 2013 10:00 am – 12:00 pm; FL2-1001 Facilitator: Chuck Passaglia Overview of the rights of employees to be free from all forms of unlawful harassment in the workplace. Particular emphasis on legal implications and UCAR policies in the areas of sexual harassment, intimidation, bullying, workplace respect, conduct in the workplace, preventing and reporting any form of workplace harassment.

Hot operations refer to work that involves open flames, torches and welding. The Safety policy and permit requirements for this work will be reviewed during this brief class.
Hazard Communication - CANCELLED June 11, 2013 9:00 am – 10:30 am; RAF/Jeffco Conference Room Facilitator: Milenda Powers Employees have the right to know about hazardous materials and how to protect themselves. Learn about the hazards of chemicals and how to use labels and Material Safety Data Sheets to protect against those hazards. Attending this class fulfills training requirements specified by the Occupational Health and Safety Administration (OSHA).
Lockout/Tagout - CANCELLED June 11, 2013 1:30 pm – 2:30 pm; RAF/Jeffco Conference Room Facilitator: Milenda Powers Avoid electrocution of yourself and others by learning how to deactivate energy systems. Recognize dangers and hazards of stored energies. Control hazards by disconnecting and blocking the energy path and perform a lock out/ tag out operation. An audit of lock-out/tag-out skills is conducted yearly.
Confined Space - CANCELLED June 11, 2013 10:30 am – 11:30 am ; RAF/Jeffco Conference Room Facilitator: Milenda Powers The number one goal of working in a confined space is to get out safely! If you ever need to enter confined spaces, like a tank, pit or manhole, this course is for you. Discussions cover hazards that claim lives of workers around the country each year, as well as how following the UCAR confined space policy will prevent that from happening to us.

A well-planned strategy can help you meet your short-term, mid-term, and long-term financial goals. Investment planning requires discipline and patience. But it doesn’t have to be difficult. Topics include: Investment fundamentals, including the effects of inflation and compounding; How to identify financial goals and time horizons; How to measure your risk tolerance, and the relationship between risk and return; The difference between cash equivalents, bonds, stocks and mutual funds, and the importance of asset allocation. A drawing for a door prize provided by ECU will be held after the session, must be present to win.
