Remembering Leslie Forehand

A group known as the "Friends of Leslie Forehand" has been discussing how to appropriately honor her memory and acknowledge her many years at UCAR.  We have located a piece of artwork, entitled Enjoying the Sunset, which features Longs Peak. This pastel is the work of a Diane Wood, a Longmont Artist, who Leslie knew and engaged in the FL Library art program. We all know how much Longs Peak meant to Leslie – a focus of her many activities. As a member of the Colorado Mountain Club she hiked the mountain as well as the encompassing areas. She participated in many community gatherings featuring the history of Longs Peak and its surrounding countryside. We feel this painting reflects Leslie’s love of the mountains.

The NCAR Library has agreed to hang this painting in the FL Library to pay tribute in a place where she impacted so many. Diane Wood has agreed to display the artwork there while the Friends of Leslie Forehand gather contributions for its purchase.  If you would like to contribute in Leslie's memory, please mail your donation to Karon Kelly at 835 Circle Dr., Boulder, CO 80302.

The Library is planning a reception during National Library Week, on Tuesday, April 10 at 1:30 p.m., at which time we hope to officially receive the painting. We will be presenting Leslie’s family the memory books which have been on display in the FL and Mesa libraries for anyone to share thoughts and memories of Leslie. We hope you will plan to attend.

Please forward this message to anyone you think might be interested in donating to the purchase of this artwork in Leslie’s memory.

Will this event be webcast to the public by NCAR|UCAR?:
