This year the Mesa Lab is celebrating its 50th anniversary
since the original dedication in 1967.
At the all-staff Up the Hill Race event last month,
commemorative buttons were handed out to all attendees.

If you weren't able to attend the Up the Hill race, it's still possible to get
a 50th anniversary commemorative button.
Please head to either the FL2, CG1 or ML reception desks and
collect your commemorative button, while supplies last!

Dear Colleagues,

I am writing to you to bring your attention to revised language in the  "Administrative Achievement" award category in the Annual Awards.
The language in this category has been tweaked to be more inclusive of a broader array of administrative and technical job categories -- including but not limited to:  employees in finance and administration, information technology, communications, logistics, general counsel, facilities management, engineering and craft work.  We know there are many superstars in the organization that provide administrative and technical support and we want to be sure they are recognized appropriately!
The full revised text is below and is incorporated into the revised procedures for policy 6-14   Employee Recognition Awards.
Administrative and Technical Support Services Achievement Award

This award is given for excellence in leading, providing or enhancing outstanding administrative and technical services that are critical to support the scientific mission of the organization in the past five years.  Nominations that will be considered are individual or team efforts demonstrating substantial, innovative achievement in administrative and technical support areas such as finance and administration, logistics, facilities management, information services, engineering or craft work.  Examples of employee activities that would be eligible for recognition in this category are those that create a work environment that fosters excellent customer service, maximizes employee potential, fosters high ethical standards, and/or demonstrates substantial improvement in productivity or cost savings to the organization.  Contributions are judged on three criteria:  a.)  innovation and creativity; b.)  degree of difficulty and c.)  magnitude of effort.
In order to submit nominations, which will be favorably considered, please use the Outstanding Accomplishments Awards checklist.
The deadline for nominations submissions is Friday, October 13, 2017.
For more information, contact Judy Skidmore, ext. 1658,
