The NCAR Community Art Program hosts a digital photography exhibit by Ken Schmeelk in Gallery I November 29 through January 29. The artist enjoys spontaneously playing with the formal elements of images with digital processing tools. He believes that starting with a photo that has good subject, color, light, and form is just the beginning of a creative process that comes to fruition in the "digital darkroom."
In Gallery II, a series of paintings and drawings by Erin King titled, "Anatomy & Zoology" is on display. The artist incorporates visual elements in her paintings including skeletal anatomy, adorable critters, floral arrangements, and a hint of underlying sarcasm. She is fascinated by the skeletal structure of humans and animals and enjoys adding floral motifs to her paintings to infuse them with rich color.
