CISL to host Yellowstone briefing at Mesa Lab Nov. 8

CISL will host a briefing for NCAR users on the recently announced Yellowstone data-intensive petascale environment November 8, 2012, at 10 a.m. in the Mesa Lab Main Seminar room.

The briefing will discuss the Yellowstone hardware, including the disk resource and data analysis and visualization clusters, the software environment, and the allocations opportunities available to NCAR researchers.

The event will be webcast and recorded for those unable to attend in person. Visit the following link at the event start time:

NCAR investigators will have access to the NWSC resources both as part of allocations to the NCAR labs and through a new opportunity to submit requests for larger-scale, project-oriented allocations. Several larger-scale projects, totaling up to 70 million core-hours, will be selected for the Accelerated Scientific Discovery period slated for May-July 2012.

The first NCAR submission deadline will be in January 2012. NCAR’s share of the NWSC resource will be approximately 170 million core-hours each year.
