New from COMET: Climatology for forecasters, tephigrams, tropical MCSs
Below are details on new online publications available from UCP/COMET. Please see the accompanying Web links for more details. To see all modules, including recent translations, please visit MetEd's module list.
Climatology for the Operational Forecaster
Climate information can be used as guidance for a range of weather-dependent operations. This module summarizes the Climate Analysis Process, a series of steps for determining which climatological products and data will be most useful for a specified application.
Tephigram Mastery
This module comprehensively examines the use of the tephigram, widely used for over 60 years by meteorologists in the United Kingdom, Canada, and other countries throughout the world,l particularly in Europe and Africa. It explores thermodynamic properties, convective parameters, stability assessment, and several forecast applications.
Tropical Mesoscale Convective Systems
This module covers all modes of MCSs with a strong focus on the tropics and the different aspects that brings to MCS development, maintenance, and structure. It describes conceptual models of MCSs and the dynamical and physical processes that influence their evolution. Also included are examples of MCSs from various areas of the tropics..
