Senior scientist Jim Hurrell has been named as the new director the NCAR Earth Systems Laboratory (NESL), which encompasses several of the center’s science divisions. Two other recent director appointments are Raj Pandya (UCAR Education and Outreach) and Matt Hirschland (UCAR Communications). More details can be found in the UCAR Magazine article linked below.

Coastal Climate Change
As climate changes, dynamic coastal regions are experiencing a wide range of impacts. This 3-hour module provides an overview of the impacts coastal regions are experiencing and may continue to experience as a result of Earth’s changing climate.
Community Tsunami Preparedness
This module is designed to help emergency managers prepare their communities for tsunamis. Lessons include basic tsunami science, hazards produced by tsunamis, the tsunami warning system, the importance of public education activities, and how to craft good emergency messages and develop tsunami response plans.
