Secret Site - October 2008

UCAR photographer Carlye Calvin stumbles across lots of interesting nooks and crannies while she’s out snapping photos at the Mesa Lab, Foothills, Center Green, and Jeffco.

Secret Site, a new Staff Notes feature, invites readers to guess where some of her more intriguing images were captured. Answers are published online.

Staff Notes also invites readers to submit their own photos for Secret Site. Please send submissions to staffnotes@ucar.edu.

This photo gives a view of the sky looking through the lens of ESSL/HAO's MK4 K-Coronameter, a telescope at the Mauna Loa Solar Observatory that retrieves white-light images of the lower reaches of the Sun’s halo, called the corona.
