September 13, 2012 | Spark: UCAR Science Education produced NCAR's second Ignite event on Wednesday, September 12. Nine presenters covered a diverse range of topics while adhering to the Ignite format of 20 slides, 15 seconds each (hence the "hurry up" motto).

September 11, 2012 | The weather last Friday turned NCAR’s annual Up the Hill Race into an uphill battle for the Employee Activities Committee, but an afternoon drizzle could never rain on the parade of determined EAC volunteers and Event Services staff. Runners, bikers, and spectators took on the post-race celebration with enthusiasm.

September 6, 2012 | As children head back to school, the GLOBE Program Office at UCAR has released a video thank-you note in praise of the teaching profession. "We wanted to salute all of the wonderful, inspiring and amazing teachers around the world for all of the things they do and for who they inspire us to become," says GLOBE's director of communications, Ron Zwerin. Ron wrote, produced, and directed the video, with Denver video company Base2 providing the camera, sound, and editing expertise.

August 27, 2012 | Stan McLaughlin passed away peacefully on August 1, 2012, at his home in Broomfield. He worked in the Computer Production Group of NCAR's Computational and Information Systems Laboratory (CISL) from December 1976 until he retired in June 2007.

August 3, 2012 | NCAR’s Jeff Kiehl (NESL/CGD) is the recipient of the 2012 American Geophysical Union Climate Communication Prize. Established in 2011, this Union Prize highlights the importance of promoting scientific literacy, clarity of message, and efforts to foster respect and understanding of science-based values as they relate to the implications of climate change.

July 23, 2012 | This month has been a busy one for UCAR moving crews. UCP staff left their temporary offices in the Anthes Building (FLA) earlier this month to return to FL4, which has been refurbished for greater energy efficiency and modernization to office layouts and the heating and air conditioning systems.
