January 9, 2012 | NCAR and UCAR staff will soon be able to get notices of weather closures, power outages, and other short-fuse emergency situations via text message on their cell phones. That's one of several notification modes made possible by a new emergency notification system acquired and managed by Safety and Site Services, which is part of UCAR Finance & Administration (F&A).

December 19, 2012 | Amid tight budgets and an evolving publication landscape, the NCAR Library has been reviewing its collection of journal subscriptions, moving to online-only access and eliminating titles with limited use. The changes will be effective January 1.

December 19, 2012 | Food, drink, music, and seasonal cheer set the scene at the annual all-staff party on December 14 at Center Green. In his first year as master of ceremonies, UCAR president Tom Bogdan announced winners of internal awards and saluted his predecessor with a special honor. Tom and fellow President's Council members also paid tribute to staff who had won major external awards in the last year.

December 17, 2012 | Many of the 1,700 employees at NSF’s headquarters in Arlington, Virginia, haven't had the opportunity to visit Boulder, but NCAR scientists brought their work and their enthusiasm to the funding agency in a day-long road show. The first-ever NCAR Science Day at NSF unfolded on November 16, with more than a dozen oral and poster presentations on a range of research topics.

December 3, 2012 | With staff members spread across nearly a dozen buildings in the Boulder area—not to mention the new NWSC in Wyoming, the Mauna Loa Solar Observatory in Hawaii, and other locations—NCAR and UCAR are calling more often than ever on virtual modes of meeting. Options for sharing audio and video to convey content from multiple sites have grown substantially over the last few months, thanks to new software and hardware.

November 2, 2012 | UCAR's first seasonal flu clinic was held at the Mesa Lab on November 1. During the month of November the flu clinic will travel to multiple campuses to provide free flu shots for employees, retirees, their spouses/partners and dependent (adult) children 18-26 years of age.
