Google Apps Global Go-Live is June 9! The Google Apps technical team will starting copying your email content early next week.
If you have any plans to organize your current email, create or change folders, and move content around, please be sure to do that before 5 p.m. on Tuesday, May 20.
After May 20 don’t do any additional clean-up of emails older than April 1st, wait until after Gmail is launched. Your mail newer than April 1 will be migrated the last weekend before Go-Live.
VERY IMPORTANT: Your Trash folder will not be copied to Gmail.
If you have some important messages in your Trash that you need copied to Gmail, complete this procedure before 5 p.m., Tuesday, May 20.
1. Make a new folder outside of Trash, at the top level (no parent or child folders), called “savedfromtrash” (small case, no spaces) The new folder must be named exactly as stated here. Other names may not be recognized in the migration process.
2. Search for the desired messages in Trash and move them to this new folder. ***Please don’t save all of your trash messages as it may impact email performance. Contact your Google Apps Technical Point of Contact if you have questions.
Going forward, Gmail will automatically empty your trash folder after 30 days. The archive feature is available for long-term storage.
