Battery Recycling: NEW Procedures Feb.1, 2013

Batteries can be a small but important part of your workday.  UCAR now recycles all batteries EXCEPT alkaline batteries, which can be safely disposed of by placing them in the trash.

Starting February 1, 2013 all alkaline batteries should be placed in the trash and will not be collected for special disposal.  When disposing of used alkaline batteries please discard them a few at a time to prevent a fire hazard.

Need a recommendation for what batteries to use in your office items like a wireless keyboard and mouse?  Rechargeable batteries are our recommendation.  Rechargeable batteries can be used for many years, and are recyclable at the end of their life.

You can read more about these changes to our battery program along with answers to frequently asked questions at our web site.
