Last winter NCAR/UCAR was honored to be the pilot site for Boulder B-cycle’s test of how well the bikes and stations operate in the winter conditions. The system passed with flying colors, but more importantly our staff proved there was a strong demand for riding the red bikes during the winter months.
“There are so many nice blue sky days during the winter months that are conducive to biking and the NCAR/UCAR riders demonstrated to us that it makes sense to stay open,” Bob Koenig, interim executive director of Boulder B-cycle said.
Currently, there are 20 B-cycles stations throughout Boulder and B-cycle wants to expand to 50 stations, with the addition of 10 next year.
