Dr. Astrid-Christina Koch, Science Counsellor for the Delegation of
the European Union to the USA, will be speaking at UCAR on May 29th
and 30th on the following opportunities for possible joint
collaborations with UCAR/NCAR/UCP:
The Seventh European Research Framework Programme (FP7) provides
funding of more than €54 billion over seven years to increase
Europe’s growth and competitiveness, recognizing that knowledge is
Europe’s greatest resource. The European Commission has allocated
these funds for the implementation of the FP7 over the period
2007–2013. FP7 consists of four specific programmes: cooperation —
to fund collaborative projects between research teams; ideas — to
fund excellent individual investigators in cutting edge frontier
research through European-level competition; people — to fund
training, mobility and career development of researchers; and
capacities — to enhance research and innovation capacity throughout
Europe. http://ec.europa.eu/research/fp7/
The Cooperation Programme of the Seventh Framework Programme
provides financial support to researchers in Europe to work together
on international collaborative research projects to advance
knowledge, propose solutions to some of the major issues facing us
today, and develop new technologies for the future. It will promote
cooperation between universities, industry and research centers
across the European Union as well as with the rest of the world.
