On Monday, May 7 through Thursday, May 10 the “Water Main Route,” the asphalt connector from the Deer Trail neighborhood to the bottom of Table Mesa Drive near Bear Creek Elementary, will be CLOSED while tree trimming takes place in the area (see map at http://www.ucar.edu/forest).
Signs will also be posted this week at either end of the “Water Main Route” as a reminder of the closure dates.
The risk of wildfire remains high in the area due to the early spring and ongoing dry conditions in the area. UCAR Facilities Management and Sustainability is working with a contractor to reduce the potential fuel build up in the forest areas of the NCAR land by removing dying and diseased trees and clearing forest debris.
This forestry clean up is a continuation of work that was carried out in fall 2011. The Phase II work beginning on May 7 and will be completed by August. It will focus on forests units 1C, 2 and 2A (see http://www.ucar.edu/forest).
Staff can expect some minor disruption to trail access while work is carried out and some noise from equipment during normal business hours.
