The final phase of the wildfire mitigation project will be completed this spring, and, pending appropriate conditions, will include a one-day prescribed grassland burn on approximately 250 acres below the Mesa Lab between March 1 - April 30. The burn will be professionally managed by Anchor Point Group, in collaboration with Boulder Open Space and Mountain Parks and the Boulder Fire Department.

All interested staff are invited to a staff-oriented information session to learn more about wildfire mitigation on the land surrounding ML and FB. Rod Moraga, principal at the Anchor Point Group, will answer questions and provide information on these topics:

• purpose and goals of NCAR's wildfire mitigation project
• what, when, why, how, and who of a prescribed burn
• project safety precautions
• ecosystem management best practices

Milenda Powers, UCAR’s Health and Safety Manager, will answer questions and provide information on:

• staff safety
• potential health impacts

Christine Wiedinmeyer, Scientist in ACD, will discuss her research on air quality impacts of fire.
