Today is the last day of 2011 for riding red B-cycles in Boulder – except for UCAR/NCAR riders! Our two stations, one at Center Green and one at Foothills Lab, will be both remain open throughout the winter as a pilot bike share program for the entire B-cycle system. UCAR and Boulder B-cycle hope to prove that riding the red bikes works just as well in winter as it does the rest of the year.
You can cast your vote for year-long Boulder B-cycle biking by checking out a red bike every time you need to travel between FL and CG, to run quick errands, or just to get a little exercise during your day. The 60 minute time limit for borrowing a bike before fees accrue still applies, and you will return bikes only to the CG or FL station, not to any of the other Boulder stations. Winter means you'll need to ride extra carefully and of course remember your helmet.
Thanks to you, bike sharing is already a success at UCAR/NCAR. In less than six months, 345 staff joined the program - that means 27% of all annual members in Boulder are UCAR/NCAR staff! The Center Green and Mitchell Lane stations logged 1,800 check-outs alone. So if you want to get in on the fun and grab your complimentary membership simply go to www.ucar.edu/sustainability click on Bikes and follow the instructions.
See you on the bike paths!
