WORKPLACE HARASSMENT AWARENESS SEMINAR December 1, 2011 10:00 am – 12:00 pm; FL2-1001 Facilitator:  Chuck Passaglia Overview of the rights of employees to be free from all forms of unlawful harassment in the workplace. Particular emphasis on legal implications and UCAR policies in the areas of sexual harassment, intimidation, bullying, workplace respect, conduct in the workplace, preventing and reporting any form of workplace harassment.

BACK SAFETY December 1, 2011 1:30 pm – 3:30 pm; FL2-1002 Facilitator: Bob Wiley SaSS Learn ergonomically correct ways to lift, push, and pull objects. This workshop is interactive and will problem solve any lifting concerns. The physiology and anatomy of the low back; Leading causes of back injury; Body Mechanics used during lifting; pushing, and pulling; Exercises for the low back.

MSWORD 2010 LEVEL 1 December 7, 2011 8:30am – 4:00 pm; CG2-CTTC Facilitator: New Horizons Instructor Learn the basics of MSWord 2010. Topics include: Getting Started The Word window, New documents, Word Help. Navigation and Selection Techniques: Document navigation, Selection techniques.

MEETINGMAKER & ROOM/RESOURCE SCHEDULER NEW USER TRAINING December 8, 2011 9:00 am – 11:30 am; CG2-CTTC Facilitator: Cheryl Cristanelli Review and practice basic features and functions of MeetingMaker and Room/Resource Scheduler. MeetingMaker: Basic overview of functions, customizing and maintaining personal calendars.  Room/Resource Scheduler: Basic overview of RRS, how MM and RRS intersect, finding and reserving rooms.

CPR CERTIFICATION (MERT and Field Campaign Staff Only) December 8, 2011 10:00 am – 5:00 pm; FL2-1002 Facilitator: Mike Grosshans Review and practice basic CPR and first aid skills and how to use them in real life emergency situations. UCAR’s MERT members will also learn how to work on a team that provides emergency care until 911 Emergency Medical Services arrive.

HIRE TRAINING FOR SUPERVISORS December 8, 2011 1:30 pm – 3:30 pm; ML-Damon Room Facilitator: Nancy Wade Required for all hiring supervisors. Learn UCAR's Staffing Process; Employment Laws, Policies and Procedures; OpenHire System: Creating a Requisition and Reviewing Resumes; HR Baseline Screening of Applicants; Selecting the Successful Candidate; Determining Salary; Completing Interview Documentation Forms; Making the Offer; and Orienting Your New Employee.

DRUPAL TRAINING FOR CONTENT CONTRIBUTORS 2 classes offered: December 14, 2011 8:00 am – 12:00 pm, and 1:00pm – 5:00pm; CG2-CTTC Facilitator: Carl Wiedemann Drupal is a powerful content management system which allows you to create and maintain dynamic websites without having to know complicated coding languages. Topics include: General Introduction to Drupal (what is a CMS?), Drupal Terminology, Creating Content, Inserting Images with IMCE, Inserting Links, Uploading Files, Inputting Formats, Publishing Options/Workflow, Reviewing Content Types (story, book, blog), Editing Content Dashboard, and Communicating with your Drupal site developers. This session is targeted to those assigned to editing and maintaining informational content on launched or ready to launch Drupal sites. At the end of this session, participants will have the knowledge to add, manage, and edit content on their Drupal websites.

EXCEL 2010 LEVEL 1 December 15, 2011 9:00 am – 4:00 pm; CG2-CTTC Facilitator: New Horizons Instructor Learn the basic functions/features of Excel 2010. Creating Basic Worksheets: User Interface and the Ribbon, Navigation Tools, Entering/Saving Data, Customizing; Performing Calculations: Basic Formulas, Calculate with Functions, Copy Formulas and Functions.

STAND & DELIVER: Fast Track Presentation Skills for Speakers December 15, 2011 9:00 am – 4:00 pm; FL2-1002 Facilitator: Doug Gertner This session provides an easy to apply framework, strategies and hints for giving great speeches and presentations. Participants will: Assess their current comfort with speaking/presenting; Learn a powerful, simple structure for any speech or presentation; Review the top 3-5 skills/strategies effective/memorable speakers must have; learn key tips for successful speaking; and Practice newly learned skills, tools and strategies by giving a short speech/presentation using newly learned skills, tools and strategies.
