NCAR's Community Art Program features watercolor and acrylic paintings by Peggy Morgan Stenmark in Gallery I at NCAR's Mesa Lab during March. The artist specializes in an ink resist technique that she developed. She enjoys this technique because the finished paintings have the softened look of a wood block print combined with the luminosity of watercolors. Her challenge is to convey to the viewer the emotional connection she has to a subject. She strives to balance the elements, paying special attention to how the colors work together to create the proper mood. Her intention is to help the viewer see the subjects of her paintings with fresh eyes and a new perspective.
NCAR's Mesa Laboratory's art galleries and science exhibits are open to the public weekdays from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. and weekends/holidays from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.
