Title:  Asteroseismology of Red-Giant Stars: Mixed Modes, Differential Rotation, and Eccentric Binaries

The unparalleled photometric data obtained by NASA’s Kepler space telescope has led to an improved understanding of red giant stars from asteroseismology. The detection of mixed modes in red giant stars has enabled us to determine the evolutionary state and constrain their internal rotational gradient. In addition, we continue to find more red giants in binary systems, which are ideal cases to study the interaction of stars from seismology.

Logistics Operations would like to remind everyone of UCAR receiving policies.

ALL receiving MUST come through 3090 Center Green Drive (CG3).

Tacitly, there may be exceptions required for different scenarios that may arise.

These are available by prior approval only.

Such requests for exclusion to the receiving policy must be obtained in writing through Kerry Slaven ( or Joseph Lujan (

There are also preexistent exceptions that have blanket approval for deliveries not coming into CG3 (i.e. bulk and raw materials for DFS (EOL Machine Shop), AOG (Aircraft On Ground) articles and extremely large or sensitive items for RAF, and all receiving for NWSC). These validations remain in effect with no further action required. However, all related packing slips MUST be sent to Logistics Operations.

For all receiving, please make sure that your vendor includes the end-user name and telephone number, an association to the purchase order/blanket order number or credit card reference, in addition to the vendor’s order numbers. Packages received into Logistics Operations without this information will be held from delivery until the necessary data has been acquired. Logistics personnel will email the end-user for this, case by case.

All personal packages coming in MUST be clearly denoted as “Personal/Confidential”, or they will be opened and received as a normal business item.

NCAR Community Art Program proudly presents:

The Fresh A.I.R. Show: Artists In Recovery Group Art Show

Show Theme: “Through Art, Visions and Dreams the Light Comes Through.”

"Recovery” is a way of life – sobriety a model for living.

An estimated 23 million people grapple with severe alcohol or drug abuse—more than twice the number of Americans afflicted with cancer. Today, 1.2 million people belong to one of the major addiction-recovery programs, listing 55,000 meeting groups in the U.S.

Each of us is in this alone together. The most successful addiction-recovery programs focus on a Fellowship of men and women who share their experience, strength and hope with each other, in order to solve their common problems and help others to recover from their addictions—alcohol, narcotics, eating, gambling, etc. The healing power of a support group with a common condition was never shown to be more powerful than in sponsorship-oriented 12-Step Programs. Staying active, attending meetings and “being there” for the new comers is how our 20 Fresh A.I.R. artists all met.

For an artist, faith without works is dead. Through fellowship and service, I have come to know many talented artists, jewelers, photographers, metal & woodworkers, musicians, and more – who daily make the conscious choice of Life, Art, Joy and Freedom from addiction. Some have done so for decades… some only for months… but each of us regained our freedom one-day-at-a-time. As a group of independent artists, acting in the spirit of fellowship to build bridges of understanding, we wish to share our stories and our vision of hope through our artwork. We celebrate dignity, wellness and community.

The Fresh A.I.R. Show series is an unaffiliated grassroots project started by Michael Hamers, who lives in Niwot, CO. Its purpose is to promote, share and celebrate with other creative individuals in the process of recovery and openly with the Boulder County community, the daily joy of being in recovery. This has as its basis the fresh perspective of adopting healthier attitudes and practices taken toward life: our art and work, our community, a sense of freedom, spirituality, and the acceptance of a Higher-Power actively influencing our lives.

"Life isn’t about finding yourself. Life is about creating yourself.”

The Fresh A.I.R. Show will be on exhibit in Gallery I & Gallery II of the NCAR Mesa Lab August 4, 2014 to September 27, 2014. Monday-Friday 8:00 am to 5:00 pm Saturday/Sunday 9:00 am to 4:00 pm.
