Two town halls will address what the NCAR/UCAR community's role/responsibility is in communicating science in what appears to be an increasingly skeptical country. The panel will include:
Naomi Oreskes, author of the recent book, "Merchants of Doubt: How a Handful of Scientists Obscured the Truth on Issues from Tobacco Smoke to Global Warming";
Chris Mooney, author of "Unscientific America: How Scientific Illiteracy Threatens our Future" and "The Republican War on Science; "
Max Boykoff, CU professor in the CIRES Center for Science and Technology Policy Research;
Mark McCaffrey, co-founder of the Climate Literacy Network, and
Jeff Kiehl, NCAR Senior Scientist.
Panelists will make brief presentations followed by plenty of time for discussion. The two town halls will take place on:
FRIDAY, OCTOBER 22
Mesa Lab Auditorium at 10:30AM
Center Green, Building 1 Auditorium at 1:30pm
