Multimedia Gallery - 2011
In September 2011, scientists wrapped up the HIPPO project (HIAPER Pole-to-Pole Observations). The three-year series of missions took researchers from the Arctic to the Antarctic aboard the NSF/NCAR Gulfstream V, an advanced research aircraft also known as HIAPER. The real-time observations and air sample flasks gathered en route form the most extensive airborne measurements of carbon dioxide and other greenhouse gases and particles to date.
