Matt Hirschland directs the Office of Communications at the University Corporation for Atmospheric Research, the nonprofit consortium of universities that manages the federally funded National Center for Atmospheric Research (NCAR), headquartered in Boulder, Colorado USA.
Prior to this he worked for the international management consulting firm McKinsey & Company, where he oversaw global internal and external communications, and media relations for the firm's Strategy Practice from Brussels, Belgium. Before joining McKinsey, he worked at the San Francisco-based nonprofit consultancy Business for Social Responsibility (BSR) as its director of research and communications.
Hirschland has been a communications professional for more than a decade, specializing in public relations, crisis management, business strategy, sustainability, brand marketing and customer engagement.
He holds a Ph.D. from the University of Colorado Boulder in political science.
